Cultivation

We use the hydroponics method, placing ready-made plants on stone wool substrates. In this way we achieve a clean start to the crop, free from germs, diseases, bacteria and other exogenous factors, while protecting the soil from erosion and limiting the unnecessary use of water and fertilizers. The pollination of the fruits is carried out in a natural way, with the use of special bumblebees (bee type). We water each plant with drippers. Harvesting is done twice a week. When the fruits reach the appropriate size and color, they are cut and packed under hygienic and safe conditions. They then make their way to end consumers. Our continuously trained staff takes care of our tomatoes every day, checking their growth and health. When the life of the plants is complete, they are removed from the chambers which are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. The area of ​​cultivation, which is done on an annual basis, is used perfectly.

Greenhouse conditions management

Through automated systems and an extensive network of sensors, we create the ideal conditions for the production of our products. We regulate the temperature and sunshine inside the grow chambers and control the amount of water that ends up on our plants.

Heating

The heating of the unit relies on biomass boilers and is carried out by a system of pipes in which water flows. The absolutely necessary biomass (core) that is needed in order to permanently have the ideal conditions for the growth of our plants is burned, and is constantly checked by our CLIMA CONTROL. As the fuel consists exclusively of biomass, the carbon dioxide balance in our energy footprint is zero.

Cooling

The greenhouses are efficiently cooled with a fan and liquid cooling system. By having a special layout in the chambers we ensure the drop in temperature during the warm months with the minimum increase in humidity.

We have deployed a complete system of thermal curtains, controlled through an automation system, which regulates the appropriate intensity and the amount of light needed for the development of our products.

CO2 enrichment

Through CO2 enrichment, we help our products get off to a good start in the early stages of their life cycle. We thus supplement the nutrients they get through the substrates. We improve the life of the crop, while simultaneously increasing the amount and activity of many beneficial substances found in plant tissues, such as vitamin C and other antioxidants. Our plants acquire more phosphorus and the rates of photosynthesis increase.
